The cottage is rustic but comfortable with all the necessary equipment for modern living with maybe the exception of a dishwasher!

It is calm and peaceful, ideal for chilling out as the patio is a veritable sun trap and on a clear evening the sky is filled with stars or you can listen to the owls.

Also being central it is an ideal base for touring all of Brittany - from Pont Aven to Mont Saint Michel - Beaches, Chateaux, Scenery, Walks, Canals, Rivers, Churches etc.

Roads are good but as the area is less populated you must expect longer distances.

Our friend and neighbour Madame Christine Kerbellec looks after the house and is always available for any problems that may occur or just to help you brush up on your french!

The cottage is suitable for young families or older people but older teenagers may find the setting too rural, with the nearest night life (disco/nightclub etc) being a 15 minute drive away in Pontivy. It is and excellent area for bike riding, fishing in the local river and exploring the pine forest - a short walk down a track towards the rear of the house. With plenty of french countryside available for rambling walks or hiking right on your doorstep. A small river - the Sarre is close by and children under 14 can fish without a permit.

The annexe is reached by two steps only, so is suited for those less physicallyt able.

There is also an English TV in the living room, allowing teenagers to play any games consoles they might have or watch DVD's (a selection of DVDs and Videos are available in the cottage as well as a multitude of books). There is also a sattelite decoder in the cottage allowing you to access the full range of UK freeview channels.

Main Cottage.

The main cottage consists of a kitchen/diner and a lounge, with 2 bedrooms upstairs. The lounge has 2 setees & easy chair, along with a French and English television. The English TV has all the normal british freeview channels and a DVD player.

Upstairs (the stairs are steep so take care) is a double bedroom with toilet, and a twin bed bedroom. Ideal for parents with children.

The kitchen diner contains everything you would expect from a modern kitchen including dining table & chairs, gas cooker, fridge/freezer, healthy eating grill, microwave, electric kettle, iron and ironing board and various kitchen units containing pots, pans, cutlery, dishes and glassware.

The annexe is a twin bedded room with a toilet and also contains the cottage's shower room and washing machine.

The annexe contains adequate storage for clothes and other items with wardrobes, vanity units and chest of drawers.

Outdoor Living.

Outside there is a patio with a BBQ, table and chairs and a small lawn enclosed by a cypress hedge. There is plenty of parking and the road outside the cottage is quiet, other than traffic to the neighbours & the local farm.

There is a garage with some bicycles although they are rather old. There is also 2 half sets of golf clubs with a reasonable 9 hole course - Golfe de Rimaison - about 6 miles away towards St Nicholas where more clubs can be hired.

Neighbouring Towns and Villages.

Guern - 3 miles away - Contains the local bakery and a few bars. There is also a payphone here should you need it. Mobile phone signal can be patchy at the cottage.

Guemene-sur-Scorff - about 6 miles away - nearest small town with supermarket, home of the Andouille sausage.

Pontivy - Nearest large town, containing shops, markets, restaurants and the local Supermarkets.

St Nicholas Des Eaux - A lovely village alongside a river, with some walks and a few Bars, Cafes and Restaurants
